Talking My new Ratties

I just took in three male rats today..only youngsters, about 10 weeks old, owners daughter was found to be very allergic to the rats..can't tell you much about them or show pics at this stage since they're all terrified and hiding from me -- don't they know I want to love them and cherish them? As soon as they start showing some interest in me and their surroundings, I will share them with you!

I haven't had rats for ever such a long time...how exciting.

They're called Toffee, Teddy and Boots -- I may change their names but probably not...I take ages trying to pick names for my furrries so maybe I'm best sticking to what they're already called. lol

Well I managed to get some some pics, not good pics but you can see them. The rat in the first pic, he's now called Podge. In the second pic the rat in the front he's now called Oliver (Ollie) and the rat behind Ollie is a GIRL!!!! *sobbing* they're supposed to be three boys!

What's the chances SHE isn't pregnant...all about 10 weeks of age?

The cream hooded is a male, Podge. My female does not look pregnant or at least not yet, hopefully she isn't!

Oh my goodness! Well just keep watching them and I'm sure you have them seperated by now but if not then you should really do that.
They are so cute! I've never had a male rat but this Dec. I'm supposed to take in a black male rat from the local vet tech program, but he's already neutered.

They were of course separated at once and as of yet, still no babies. I'm almost sure there isn't going to be any babies but, I have another week to be certain and then I'm off to find a rescue girl or two!

Hi Wendy:
CongRATulations on you new little cuties! Very pretty and yes they needed to be seperated by 5 weeks old so chances are very strong she could be because they go into heat every 4 days.
. Gestation is 21-23 days and sometimes it is hard to tell at such a young age till the last 5 or 6 days. Could be a small litter tho if she is. Maybe you won't need a new buddy if she has a girl or two then you could keep a couple with her. :-D

No babies... thank god.. Audrey will of course get a new friend to share all her troubles with in the not too distant future... Audrey is a biter and very scared of me although she has become less scared over time and hopefully a new cage mate will help her feel even less scared.
