Georgiana and Isabella, the two mice that spent most of their lives as "milker mice" (feeding baby mice that would be snakefood) are having some major skin irritation and I could really use some advice from the mouse people here.
Isabella already has scabs on her ears and a bald spot forming on her shoulders, and Georgiana is losing hair on her face.
I don't think they have mites because the 5 other mice that lived with them are fine. Someone gave me a link to a good web site and it suggests using cortisone cream and tea tree oil to stop the itching. It also suggests that they might have a food allergy and to feed them boiled brown rice and fruits and veggies. I separated them from the other mice today, gave them Carefresh instead of Aspen, and I'm cooking some rice for them right now.
Can anyone else help me make them better?
Should I change the other mice's diet as well to prevent this? I don't want it to happen to all of them. I feel so bad.
I'm afraid to use mite spray because their skin looks so irritated. I don't want to hurt them!
