Oiling a wheel

Ugh...I forgot for the life of me,what can I use to oil a mouse wheel so it does not squeak!? I have not had mice in so long, that I cannot remember what I used to de-squeak a wheel.

I am actually hoping to get them a "Silent Spinner" this week, but until then they are using another wheel I had.And it is loud! I feel kind of dumb, because I remember oiling and cleaning mouse wheels, but forgot what I was using that made them stop squeaking.By the way this current wheel is a plastic one,not metal.

You could use a drop of vegetable oil. You could also use the graphite of a No 2 pencil. Just take a dull pencil and draw around where the wheel meets a few times to deposit some of the graphite. (There is no lead in a lead pencil.)

I have a large syringe with veggie oil in it (I should use olive oil but its too expensive) for squeaky wheels

I'm glad you asked this question, last night I heard that wheel all the way from my daughters room. I will be using olive oil since that is what I have.

Yeah, when i was lil i had a metal wheel for my hamster.. i had to put the oil on it nearly every other day because she would jus lick it off, then she would run on the wheel all night.. and she would run so fast on that lil wheel that it would scoot across the cage till it started hitting up against the side of the cage.. so then it squeaked and bumped all night long.. lol that sounds bad.. but yeah, i didn't get much sleep back then

Last night I didn't oil the wheel before bed and had to sleep with a pillow over my head.Even though the mice were in the other room, all I could hear was squeaking. But I am going to take care of it now in a few minutes when I go to take them out.
