One of the moms is dead

I found one of the moms dead this morning, I think she must been sick. She was looking a little worn, but I thought it was from nursing 11 babies plus another 8 babies that were born yesterday morning from a doe that I suspected was pregnant. The other mice and the babies are all doing fine, and I just hope that the sickness was not transfered to the babies when she nursed them, if it had, I think I would of seen symptoms already. Luckily, I still have 2 of the moms and the grandma to nurse the dead mom's (Roseanna) babies.

If you have baby rats that completely lose any female in their life...is there a way to bring them up? Like with kitten formula fed through an eye-dropper or something? Or is all hope lost?

Sorry to hear of your loss ;[

Turkey you can but it's difficult. You have to feed them every 2 hours (day and NIGHT) and make sure they are getting enough food.

It is possible, but as Missy said...it is hard and there is no guarantee the young will survive.
