Pics of Sue and Maude

I introduced Sue and Maude in a neutral area, and they love each other. They automatically started grooming each other. Sue is so gentle with Maude. Maude will climb all over Sue and Sue just sits there and lets her. I've gotta keep Maude's nails trimmed cause Sue is hairless and Maude has already scratched her a little. Here's some pics of them. They are in a little pet carrier I use when I have them at the computer desk with me.
Here's one of Sue

Here's one of them together

Here's sue again

This is them in the little carrier...you can see maude peeking through the towel

Here's one of Maude

Here's Maude cleaning Sue's ear

And here's one of them chillin

Awww that is so cute!!!!! It's good to see that they got along. 8) Now.. clean the cage very very well, to get rid of Sue's odor, and I would say it's safe to put them together in it. 8)

Hey. I have a question. When Maude gets rowdy and she does cause she's a baby she jumps on Sues back. I guess Sue isn't always in a playing mood, so she gives Maude a sortof kick/push with her back foot. Is this normal? Is she gonna get so mad at Maude one day that she bites her? Will Sue start playing more now that she has a friend? I think maybe she doesn't know how to play. I hope when Maude gets a little bigger that Sue plays more. If I get another young rat, will they overwhelm Sue? Sue isn't that old, I think she's just not used to having friends because when she was a baby at the pet store, the pet store lady separated her from her litter mates and put her in her own cage to sell as an oddity, till the snake man came. But, she hasn't hurt Maude and they kiss each other and clean each other. Do you think she'll become more outgoing?

I think Sue probably will become a little more outgoing. Maude might annoy her once in awhile, but I don't think they will fight. Rats love company. They evolved in groups, and need the company of other rats (I've done a lot of reading about it since I got mine lol). I'm sure Sue loves having Maude around, even if she isn't as playful. My Peaches is a lot younger than Sundae, and Sundae isn't as playful. Sometimes I play with Peaches (with my hand) and she gets all hyper and wrestles with my hand. You might want to try that with Maude so she can get some of her energy out. Keep us updated!

Awww cute nekkid girl!

I would say it's pretty normal for Sue to not want to play. Squirt is always jumping at Nemo and wanting to wrestle, but Nemo always pushes him away and it's never gone so far that one of them gets hurt. The key is "no blood no foul"-- so long as no one gets any cuts or scrapes, just let them play/fight.

Why not try putting a small ball in the cage for the hyper one to get her energy out?
