Question about my new rats and a new wheel

I have recently taken in two rats. They are former lab rats and their owner had to go back overseas. They've really taken to my husband and I over the last few weeks. I was worried as I haven't had any rodents as pets since I was a kid. Here is my question: as lab rats they never has access to a wheel. I got them a wodent wheel (we can't let them have free reign of our place- only our hallway is rat friendly). All they do is pile bedding in and around it. They won't go in there unless I put in a treat and then they run out again. How do I get them interested in it? (I understand they may never like it, but they/I won't know until they try it).

If they still don't like it in a few weeks, any want a never used wodent wheel?

When my Mavis and Beulah were little (both passed on now) they would run the wheel and Beulah loved the ball, but after they grew out of the small wheel andBall I had gotten them a bigger ones, they never wanted anything to do with them. The rats I have now from birth, have never wanted anything to do with a wheel. Seems climbing is the perferred excerise over anything else.

some rats like it and some dont. if you do decide to get rid of it, i could use it for my rescue. i was thinking of getting one in case i did get a rattie that would actually use it. ~but its not a necessity, so if someone else really needs it, give it to them. i could offer to pay for shipping or whatever.

They seem to have finally taken a liking to it. My husband and I built them an addition and hung the wheel from the top of the old cage. It has a little more clearance from the bedding now (almost an inch)and I think that helps. It moves faster and they seem to like it more.
I guess they don't have to work as hard to run. Lazy girls!
Thanks for the advice everyone.
