Rat abuse from my classmate!

Alright, well it is quite a story!
Here we go.
Yesterday at school, a boy in my class brought a rat to school for no apparent reason, just for fun. There's nothing wrong with this of course, my little girl Eclipse loves being in my hoodie pocket when i go for an excursion to the mall! Tehe
But then i heard of what he was going to do with this little rat, who is only 6/7 weeks old. He was going to feed it wheatbix (a type of cereal) for 3 weeks and give it cucumber instead of water, then after a period of 3 weeks syringe water into her mouth so that's she bloats and he stomache explodes or what ever would happen.
I was disgusted, i took the rat out of his hands and kept it. And she is such a beautiful little thing, she's beige and looks like she's been dunked in tea, I've named her Butter Scotch and she gets on so well with my other 2 girls, Eclipse and Sugar.
He breeds rats constantly, he has 60 odd rats at the moment and keeps them in cramped fish tanks with newspaper, no shavings or anything. No tunnels or hammocks or form of entertainment.
I've also heard about previous times when he has brought rats to school, he threw one off the 3rd floor story to see how fast it would drop, threw another up in a tree and when the class went on camp, he packed the tent away with the rat inside it and it died.
Is there any way i can talk him out of mistreating his rats? They don't deserve what they're getting.

What a horrible kid. Could you report him to Animal Cruelty? Not sure what you have in SA but here you can call places like the RSPCA (royal society for prevention of cruelty to Animals) and they would remove the rats and rehome them. Is there any place like that were you are?

Have fun with your new rat

I am so glad you took the rat from him. How old is this kid? Does he have parents? Talk to a local animal shelter and they should be able to direct you. Anyone that is involved with animals will be glad to help you. Good luck!

OMG i would have taken the rat from him and then punched him on the nose for good measure!! Whilst i dont condone violence lol i would suggest that maybe you report him to animal cruelty as he cant be allowed to keep getting away with this. Do the teachers at your school know what he is doing? Perhaps you should enlighten them!! Well done you for taking little butterscotch away from that horrible kid tho xxx

Oh that's horrable!

I go with what everyone else said and would report him to animal cruelty, and tell them some of the stories about what's been going on as well.

And what about telling someone at your school too? I don't know if that would do any more good after you report him to animal control, but I can't imagion that any school officals would be happy to hear about what he's been doing & teaching the other kids. Maybe they would keep a closer eye on him at least, so he has a harder time doing that kind of stuff again.

I agree with the other members here.Tell animal control or the SPCA.Unfortunatly there is no way you could talk him out of it...it really sounds like he wouldn't listen and people like this have other issues.

Report him to animal cruelty and tell a teacher at your school. You could even tell your parents and see if they can get in touch with his parents to tell them about what he's been doing.I would hope his parents would not allow this.
