Rats getting fluffyer?

Hey everyone! I have a question about my rats' fur. I have two male rats and they are super cute and sweet. However, lately I noticed that whenever I changed their bedding there were all these hairs on the fleece. So I panicked and thought that I wasn't giving them the right food or not enough greens etc. etc. What weird about this is that the fur of both my rats appears to become thicker. Like they are preparing for winter or something..and I dont know if it's good or bad? Because there has been a deffinite change. So anyone know what this is? Should I be worried?

Thanks in advance!!

Rats shed, some more than others...a little fur on fleece is not too worrying...when you see patchy coats and thinning fur on the rat plus possible excessive scratching that's different. You most likely have parasites to be treated.

How old are your boys?

Aww, they are only a few months younger than my boys. I am sure you love them to pieces! Rats steal your heart like no other. They are just little love bugs.

Yes, if you do not see any bald patches or excessive scratching, you could just have a couple of ratties that have longer fur and shed more than others. One of my boys sheds a LOT (he has longer/thicker fur) and my other boy, not so much.

You will always be with me, my sweet boys. I will see you at the Bridge.
