Rattie Treats Recipe

I have a friend who has an African Grey Parrot, he hates the "monkey biscuits" the come in his food, but my rats love them (No, I have no idea what is in them!) So I was wondering, can I also make them Pony Cookies...I tried it, and they LOVE them!

Here's the recipe for Apple and Oat Pony Cookies (yes you can feed them to pony's too!)

Treat your horse or pony to these simple squares made of wholesome ingredients. Keep them fresh in the fridge. Remember not to feed too many of any treat too often.
Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
  • 1 ˝ cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup oat bran cereal or ground oatmeal
  • ˝ cup all purpose flour (approx.)
Preparation:
  • Preheat oven to 350F
  • Oil a 9inch x 9inch square cake pan
Spread the batter evenly in the cake pan and bake for 20-30 minutes. The batter will start to shrink away from the sides and it will be firm to the touch. Slice into squares while still warm. Keep chewies in the refrigerator in an air-tight container or bag.

I bake them a little longer so they are more crunchy than chewy (Ok, I've made them twice!)

I make my ratties trreats that I used to give my birds, it's really easy, and fruity!

1c AP Flour
2 1/4c Zupreem Fruitblend Favor Parrot Food
1/2c oatmeal
1 egg
1c water

Mix together bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes. My rats love them, my cockatiels used to love them (Jethro and Ellie May-we hd to find them a safe home, my Maine Coon Orson could knock their cage over and get the slide up door open, Jethro lost all of his tail feathers to Oby, and Ellie May would not stop hatching clutches, she actually had a clutch, and laid eggs on them, and they hatched. Even when we took Jethro out, she would lay eggs!!)
