My new mouse.
So I was leaving the zoo, pretty far from it, when I saw this cute little white-and-orange mouse heading towards the busy streets. It did not look like a wild mouse (white and bright orange?) and it would have died in those streets. So I scooped it up, accompanied with a startled bite, and looked at it. It was silky, soft, and well-cared for looking. I didn't want to just leave it to its fate, so I put it in my purse and left the purse more than half open so I could peek in and it could peek out. I took it home and examined it more, I don't know a whole lot about mice (I have a cat and a dog), but it seems to me that this mouse is a girl. She might even be pregnant. I named her Peach like the Prince song, and for her color.
Last night she escaped, because the lid for the tupperware thing I was keeping her in was too thick to cut holes in, and she needed to breathe, so instead I put seran wrap secured with a headband on the top, with holes poked through and widened. She stood on the toilet paper roll I put in there, apparantly, and chewed it open.
Eventually I found her and handled her and got her used to me. She seems okay with me now. She licked some peanut butter off my finger. Now she's in a shoebox (open for air and light) sleeping. Very cute. I put some whole-wheat organic bread and three organic honey o's in. I dipped one in peanut butter. The honey o's have no sugar and a tiny bit of honey, so I figured it'd be okay. I put a paper towel down on the bottom of the box for lining, ripped up some toilet paper, and put a little bowl of water in the corner. She seems okay. She doesn't have the TP roll anymore cause it was soaked and it's probably not good for her to get wet. I'm going to get some stuff for her at petco today.
Any suggestions on what to get, and what I can do to improve her living conditions for the time being?
