Rock for Rat Cage

I found a big rock outside that I want to put in my rat cage. I was planning to wash it in bleach to kill any nasties that might be in it. Any other tips for making it safe for my boys?

Maureen

I tend to boil things..like hermit crab shells& just well..anything to kill off any nastiness before I place them in enclosures.
Hope that helps =D

i would put it in your shower as hot as it goes for 10 mins changing it around every so often to rinse it off

if you bleach it and boil it you still need to rinse it off VERY well

Be careful putting it in the oven...some rocks will explode when heated

Personally i'd just scrub it well in hot water and place in the sun to dry (thats what i did for my aquarium rocks)

yes i was just goign to say, rocks are porous, and may exploe when boiled or baked.....just soap and water, if its' good enough for me and my hands, it's good enough for them lol

I'd say crush the rock in your bare hands, and marinade rockettes in some teriyaki sauce + worstershire for about an hour or two. Then sautee in some olive oil with some garlic and scallions...serve over white rice or pasta...

No but really I like what Kendalle said, 350 for 45 minutes and baste every so often...don't forget to season...

Not sure what you should do... but I just thought that was funny! Unless he's being serious...
