shopping for cages...

I have a large cage for my two rats and Alex, however I have always wanted a huge 7 or so story house. And my Skrat is getting old so I cant hold off the dream any longer.

I know that its cheaper to make one, however, its not going to be powder-coated and its not gonna look like a pro did it, at least if im building it..lol

So I have been looking on line for the biggest cage i could find that was relatively reasonable in price

but anyway, the only cages i have found so far were martin's cages...

Does anyone know of any other sources to get pet cages in general?

If your rat is getting old then it's not wise to get a many leveled cage =\ He can fall and hurt himself or find it difficult to get to the food when he needs to.

If you're still looking for cages, petsmart and petco usually have good deals on cages, I got a three level specificaly made for rats cage (I think it's the martin design) for 80 dollars, which ain't bad considering I've seen lesser rabbit cages for 160 =X

Edit: I happen to have some links left over from the cage searching rampage of yesteryear ^^

I think that if you get a bigger martins cage your rat should be okay. Just put the food on more than one level as well as the water bottle. I know the bigger cages don't have ramps that are as steep as the smaller cages. Even if the ramps are steep they can be easily modified. If you're putting a mouse in there with them, then make sure it's ratty sized wire.

A mouse in..with rats?
How are you's getting rats not to kill mice?
Mine go beserk if they see my mice.I put my mice back in the cage I had them in before (no bars, the other leaked) NOW if the rats see them, they don't seem to care but still I try to move the mice wayy out of the rats reach.

You can also look at martins ferret cages and chinchilla cages. If you email them they will make them with the ratty sized wire which should be okay for alex as well.

I like the RUUD myself and I told my boyfriend that I'm getting the biggest cage I can now so I don't have to keep upgrading.

Ferret nation is good but you have a female rat and a mousie so I wouldn't consider that.
