Angry sick rats

if two out of my four rats are weezing and making strange noises in their chest is probably all my rats sick. there is nothing wrong with the noisey rats. there is not red on eyes are nose. they eat and still play. they act just fine, but they weeze. is this life threatining. will my other two rats start this annoying habbit?

Healthy rats should never wheeze or make chesty noises. I would highly suggest getting them to a vet and on a course of antibiotics before it turns into pneumonia. And yes, your other two are at risk as well. Vet ASAP is my only suggestion at this point.

Sounds like a respiratory infection to me, which is extremely common in rats and mice. Unfortunately, it is fatal if untreated, which means they need to see a vet ASAP if you want them to make it

I would get to the vets asap. It doesn't cost that much for rats, wish my dogs vet bills were that cheap!

Are your rats ok? Did you get them to a vet?

I would definitely get them to a vet ASAP if you haven't already.

As snlash said, if this isn't treated properly, it can result in fatality. I know two people who had to put their hairless rats down because the disease they had was slowly killing them, and they didn't want them to suffer.

As I always say, better to be safe than sorry!

Karen
