Teeny Tiny Rescue Babies :)

History - ad on kijiji "rat pups, approx 3 wks...$1 each, call ************""

So I called and asked The Question. If they had answered correctly I would've just moved on.
"Are you selling these babies as pets or as..err..food?"
Answer "Whatever you want!" *ugh*

So I got the history. Male and female bought as pets for their 5 year old daughter. The female "just kept having litters over and over" (this means back to back to back...terribly unhealthy for mom and her pups). I convinced them to only have 1 sex, and mom was supposed to be given to a neighbour's child (5 years old again) I said I would take her! So that was 10 wee pups and mom for free if I took them all. A rescue friend would take in any boys at all

I arranged an emergency transport in less than an hour, and the Dad said they were moving so if he didn't answer, to just leave a message and he would call right back. Michelle left a detailed messaged at 1 pm. He KNEW that she was coming to see me the next afternoon and was the one who had to get them. By 9 pm we are both frantic, so I leave another message. The next morning, nothing...so then we got Michelle's husband to call from his cell (different last name) and Chad answered and said come get them and told them the address. They get there and find that address doesn't exist (unless they live IN a Midas?) And he wouldn't pick up his phone again, so after an hour of agonizing they came to my place. When they were pulling up, they get a call from Chad's gf who had seen all the missed calls. She said Chad had been partying hard all weekend and was passed out drunk AGAIN....grrrr! We also found out he had said his street # was 147 but it was really 167...more GRRRR!
They got a hold of the gf on Monday night and raced to pick up the babies. Arrived to a filthy home with Chad so stoned on the couch he wasn't capable of speech, just staring at the wall in front of him. The place reeked! They asked after mom and was told that she had died in the 2 days we couldn't reach the drunken dad . She had had 3-4 litters one after the other and then suddenly died, and they had no clue why! Two of the 10 babies were also dead as they slipped out of the Parrot cage they lived in and the couple's cats got them. We sadly had to leave a baby boy behind as a companion to dad as the daughter started whining and the mom grabbed him back. The 5 year old was tossing him up and down and throwing him around, so we are praying he is dead now.

So Michelle took home 7 babies and a slightly older sister. They were and are soooo tiny! But happy and friendly, so Mom must've been a saint.
There was 7 girls and 1 boy...
The baby boy went home with a rescue friend on last week, The foster kept the older sister and 2 beige hoodie gals, and I have my 4 here.

Meet the wee babies, about 4 weeks of age, and the weight of 2 week old healthy babies!

Nyx (43 g) - [niks] "night"; goddess of the night, daughter of Khaos and his wife Erebos

Aella (46 g)- [a -l -uh] "whirlwind"; name of Amazon warrior killed by Herakles during his quest for Hippolyta's girdle

Theia the little runt (38 g) - [thee-uh] possibly derived from greek "goddess"; name of Titan goddess of sight

Xanthe my timid girl (38 g) - [zan-thee] "yellow" or "fair haired"

Now, the tiny dolls are GROWING like weeds,at almost 5 weeks. I am very very pleased.

Aella - 80 grams
Nyx - 81 grams
Theia (runt) - 69 grams
Xanthe - 72 grams

Nyx

Theia and Aella

Xanthe was not cooperating so I had to hold her for a pic NOT of her butt or tailtip.

Oh, they're so adorable. I don't know if I could keep my mouth shut if I saw that 5 year-old doing that. Poor ratty.

I'm glad you got a hold of them!

Aww they are super cuties, I'm glad that they got out of there, it sounds aweful.

They look like they are enjoying themselves in their new home. I hate to ask, and shudder to think, but what happened to the other litters?

They were eaten

Leaving baby boy and dad behind was the only way we could save the other 8...I hate the term collateral damage but sadly its what we had to do this time.

Sweet babies. If the father was stoned and that stuff was around a rat that could kill them right. I have know people do that to their pets and blow it in their face and I wonder if he did that to the mom and babies that stuff is from what I hear can cause them to go nutts and can leave them sometimes with probelms after words. I dont know for shure but that is what I have heard.
How many were listen on the add before you got there to save them? or did the people just tell you this is what they had? OMG I shutter to even amagine what the poor rats went threw. NO afeance but if I saw a kid doing that I would have grabed the rat and proably out of instink beat their butt. And been happy to pay what ever fine knowing I got the rats out.
Your right FlickeringHope Karma aways gets back to thouse who do wrong. Good Luck and they are so cute.

I think you are in the wrong place buddy.
You are the weirdest cat I ever seen.
Now matter how big or small wierd or normal we or animals may be we can learn to love and get along and love is what makes it all worth wild. Becuase Beautie is in the eye of the beholder an no one is ugly or more prettyer then anything eals we are all equal. There are some ugly people and things but that is becuase man kind makes them this way do to thier actions.
