Exclamation Urgent!!! I think Annie is sick.

Okay, so i came in the room to give Jack & Annie some food and a sweet treat. When I saw what kinda appeared Annie's nose almost bloodly like. I took him out of his cage and observed his nose. I've attached a pic, it was the best pic I could get. But, its, nots not actually bloody, its like raw there, with puss coming out. I'm unsure of what it might be? Can anyone give me any leads? I'm unable to take him to the vet tonight, but, if its necessary, I'll be able to take him in the morning. Thank you!

So it's not a red liquid discharge (porphryin) but a yellowish thicker discharge? Can you check your boys chin and see if its damp?

The discharge is closer to the yellowish. His chin is dry.

How is his breathing? Is it laboured, is he making any noises (you can pick him up and put his side on your year to listen to his lungs, do both sides...this is called Rat Phone). Is there any other symptoms beyond this discharge? Is it dry and crusty or wet? Is it bubbling out of his nose?

His breathing seems normal. He did make a weird noise earlier. It was like a whinning/hic-up sound. I picked him up to kind of soothe him, and he stopped. THEN, Jack started making the same sound, I was like WTF. So, I dont think thats associated with this nasal problem. But, do you know what kind of sound I'm talking about? And why they would both make that sound right after each other? Never heard them make it before. But anyways, Annie is sneezing a bunch, and I mean a bunch. Other than the discharge (which seems to have lightened up a little now) and the sneezing, there are no other symptoms. Also, the discharge is wet and it is bubbling out of his nose.

A vet ASAP.
You will need special anti-biotics to help him if it is a URI.

More than likely she will get worse everyday if she is left untreated.
Please get her to a vet.

U.R.I= upper respiratory infection.
Basically the respiratory system of your rat has an infection, annie will need antibiotics to get rid of it, but it should be ok if you get him to the vet now

How's Annie? If he is acting better then it was most likely not a URI.

Well, he cleared up later that evening... And we have just been keeping a close eye on him. I'm not sure what caused it... Maybe the fact that they are in the same room as my husbands military gear/tools/just stuff and it has a smell that he don't like/can't get used to because its constantly changing.... Plus the room isn't the cleanest...Lately we have been cleaning it a little more than usual.

Maybe move the rats to a different room? Or move some of the other things in that room?
It is just a suggestion. I know that when I finally move out, I'm going to have to fight with my boyfriend on where the rats will be going. My rats can't go in the livingroom, but his seventy-five gallon tank, and the one hundred and ten gallon tank that he wants to get can go there accourding to him.

I thought that maybe you didn't. I think cleaning the room more should be fine.
Maybe keep an eye on it for the next couple weeks.
