Talking What a day!!

Well today i went to the pet shop to stock up on food and cleaning supplies when i got talking to one of the ladies that works there! They all know me as "rat lady" lol and she was telling me about these 2 female rats that she had out the back that had been taken in by some woman who was 8months pregnant.......basically she didnt want the rats anymore because they are "aggressive"........the fact of the matter is these rats are severely overweight and i mean severely....i have never seen femals so big in all my life....they have huge saddle bags their breathing is laboured because of the weight they are carrying around they have been in the shop for the last 2 weeks and have apparently lost 1/3 of their body weight which means they were obviously enormous when they were taken in so anyway the woman i was talking to is a major rat fan and has been working with these 2 lil ladies to tame them up and has had them on a very strict diet in order to slim them down.....the woman that owned them didnt keep them in a cage and they ate whatever she ate, they didnt have any sort of rat diet at all hence the weight gain.......she also got fed up with them destroying her sofa and carpet apparently and decided to get rid so long story short i have been given these girls to tame up and slim down and i think i will be keeping them for good hehe they are only 9 months old at the mo so have a lot of life in them and they are absolutely gorgeous husky fancies......the only problem is they have ridiculous names lol 1 is called Minnie mouse and the other is called Alison so they are now gonna be called Tink and Mimi!!! Tink is darker than her sister and is the more aggressive of the 2 although they arent really aggressive but they do love to nip and grab your hands!

Thankyou if you read down this far lol i will get pics asap! xx

Awww, bless! Sorry to hear what happened to them!
I'm sure they will forget all about it because they're with you now ..rat lady hehe!! I'm sure they are going to love their new home and I hope they lose some weight soon! I'm sure your the best person to do the job and tame them up! I bet the people who work in the shop were waiting for you to come so they could get you to take them because they knew you'll do the job properly!
I wish you the best of luck with them ..... And now you can use the name Tink after all yay!!
xx

Aw that's so great of you
I hate working at a pet shop because people give back the pets all the time! This lady came for 3 weeks regularly to come see and pet one of our bunnies, and she finally adopted him, came on a REALLY rainy day and went through all the trouble of taking him that day anyway even though she was on foot.
2 days later she brought him back the poor little bunnay!

Maybe you can do some before/after photos of the slimming ladies!

Can you tell me what diet you're putting them on to make them lose weight healthily?

Rat Lady, what a great nick name

They must be so glad to get fun and exercise, I'm sure if they were that fat they weren't running around much!

Aww thats okay
Keep us updated on how the girls get on. Are you planning on trying to introduce them to any of your other girls or keeping them in their own cage?
