Question Why is toto nippy with novo ?

Well my boys are geting bigger and more playful HA!
And when novo is like in toto's way or toto wants to do somthing and novo is there he BITES him and novo SQUEAKS loud but does'nt seem scared just shocked by it.
And when they are out with free time novo would chase toto about then toto would play back then all of a sudden BITE again i get quite panicy with them because i hate to hear them squeak.

And novo is doing somthing strange..
When i lift him he would just wriggle about then after like a few seconds he SQUEAKS as if i am hurting him but i don;t have hold of him hes sitting in my arms.. or if i go to lift him he squeaks and jumps of like as if to say "i'll squeak if you touch me" LOL its really weird does anyone know what this is ?

I don't know what to tell you except not to worry if you don't see injury. You may just have a bossy breaches on your hands who thinks he oughta be in charge of who is where and who has what, etc. We had one like that. What we did is hold him firmly but gently and turn him on his back and kept him there until he stopped struggling, it's something that was recommended to me for bossy puppies. Basically he has to know that he gets what he wants by being calm and sweet not by being a bossy bully. Or at least if it's the same thing that was going on with ours. I had to do that with Boris because he thought he was the boss of everybody.

Thanks alot hun !
Yeah well i think you might be right about the bossyness because if i like hold him he tries his hardest to get out of my hands and nudges my hands away from him LOL but he doesnt get agressive he just wants to do what he wants to do he is also very bossy around any type of food he has to get his first or he gets moody with his bro lol.
Did holding your rat on his back work ?
Im scared incase i hurt him or he nips me incase he gets agitated.
Thanks for the info

Sounds like a very dominant ratty to me.
And I second that...if you don't see any blood, then you usually don't have to worry.

It worked for me with a few other things. I put Boris and Figgy in an all new cage instead of one that had been their territory, started holding boris on his back and handling him on my terms (when I wanted to not when he begged and beat on the bars) and I started taking them out separately instead of together. I found that Boris and Figgy did pretty well on their own after a while but seeing me handle Figgy would set Boris's dominance stuff off again.

Maybe Novo is touchy because of Toto and gets nervous when he is touched. Thats the only thing I can think of. Good luck!
