Wrestling Rats

I was wondering about the relationship of two of my rats...they wrestle quite a bit with each other(of course only playing, it's hilarious). There's a tiny, tiny squeak here and there very so often but each evening they really go at it. They get along just fine and I've never noticed any sort of blood or bad result of the battles. I know baby rats wrestle quite a bit from personal experience but these guys are adolescents(2-4 months) and still love to wrestle. Do any of your older rats still wrestle for fun? Do you think this means these two rats are the best of friends, or are they actually fighting for alpha rat? I can't really tell if they sleep together because the entire group sleeps together...but yeah...just wanted to know what it means exactly. They're two of my favs also...that'd be cool if they are very closely bonded.

Awww...sweet! Thats cute, when you know rats are bonded with one another.Yes,it is normal for older rats to wrestle with eachother.

I have 2 ratties,Zephyr and Jellyroll who are the BEST of friends and they sometimes wrestle! It is funny because they are both really chunky rats and are kinda clumsy at it!

my boys wrestle like mad. We play with them in the hallway and it sounds like a thundering herd when they go pouncing! I think one plays a little too rough as I see my sometimes hairless rat, Moe (he is a double rex and goes between haired and fuzzed), with scratches/bite marks. I think it's Jinx cuz I've seen him grab his brothers by the hair and pull back. I guess it's okay for the haired boys but poor Moe he doesn't always have hairs. sniff.

I watched them a bit closer since last night and noticed they do kind of sleep together. One sleeps with his head on top of the other...noticed that happen on two different occasions. Guess this is good news!

Yeah it's weird, I have like 4-5 places to sleep and they all choose to sleep in the giant igloo. I don't think they've really discovered the hammock yet but it seems like thats ultimately one of rats' favorite places to sleep. I've never really had a rat that took to a hammock...I wonder why?

I have a 16 month girl who still loves to handwrestle and bounce and play with me. My 11 month old Bronny and her offspring of 7 months still bounce and play. My 14 month mom and her 4 daughters all still play, and Dilbert at 11 months (a boy nonetheless) still loves to wrestle. My cage of 13 has only 2 girls who don't wrestle and play with me but they came to me later in life and haven't relaxed enough yet.

I have taught older rescue rats to play with me too.

Babies are just best at popcorning and insane playtime.
