Apple Branches

I am going Apple Picking in a week or so. I bought some apple branch twigs and I was wondering if there was any problem if I got some fresh ones? i know you have to be worriedabout parasites etc.. Is this a good idea if so is there somethign I can do to sterilize them and dry them out before I give them to the chin?

I haven't been able to get my chins any fresh apple branches, but from what I hear chins love them! I've heard of people sticking them in the oven on a fairly low temp to kill the bugs and dry them out a bit. If it's still sunny and warm where you live, I would say a couple of days in the sun would do the trick too, thats what I would do.

Chins do love them, but I am uncertain how to sterilize them. I'd also be worried about pesticides which may have been sprayed on the trees.
