Question Barking

So I've had my chinchilla now since Christmas and for the most part, she's been a pretty quiet chinnie. Last night, though she woke me up several times doing a funny little chinnie bark thing. It was 3longish barks by 1short one that sounded more like a hiccup. When I checked on her, she was just sitting in front of her hay bail. She seemed fine, but when I went back to sleep she didn't do it anymore. Is this normal? She's never done that before... Is it like a mating call or something? She's only about 10mos old. Distress call? She seemed fine... I just can't figure it out...

With my babies it is an attention call. If she is your solo chinny, she is probably lonely and wants some attention. Mine used to do it to get me to come take them out and give them a treat or something...it eventually went away, but I did buy her a cagemate. Most likely wants attention.

Wink

I have to chinnies, I have a homo beige male about 5 months old, and a black male about 7 months old, I don't have names for them yet because I've only had them for a couple of weeks and their little personalities are just starting to come out. My beige one peeps at me all the time actually me and my boyfriend, he does it for treats or wants to be talked to I talk to him and he quiets right down, but it's probably an attention call or a treat call. Just talk to ur little one and they should calm right down.

It seems like a attention call. if im thinking of the right sound. I just lost my female chinchilla this past week so my male is now alone. im told that when im not home marlo makes the call constantly. but i only hear him do it now and then when im home. otherwise hes pretty quiet.

Haha.... chins bark for tons of reason, who knows? i have two... and they still do it on occasion.. maybe they are lonely... scared... had a bad dream... want me come and adore them some more.... are bored... think my room is far too quiet?

They chatter and squeek and make all kinds of noises. Some are quieter than others? Apperntly i have vocal ones but the bark you described sounds about like mine sometimes mine will do that several times in a row :S but i go look a them and they seem all right...
