There are many things that could cause a chin to fur chew, but the main and most comon factor is stress. The stress could be due to boredom, lack of proper nutrition, a mate or potential mate, a location change, or bad husbandry.

It's supposedly a genetic trait, though I'm not entirely convinced myself that there's an actual 'chewing gene.' I think a predisposition to adversely reacting to stress is a liklier prospect, but that's just me.

Attached is a close up picture of a chin that's chewed it's fur.

well i recently purchased a female for him, shes too young too mate yet, and they are in seperate cages, and he has never done this.
one day i came home and his fur was wet, so i though maybe he fell in his water dish, or somehow peed on himself ,a dn the next day when he was dry i noticed his hair wasnt very pretty any more, and it looked like he had a buzz in 2 diff. spots.. do you know why he could do that ??thanks.
