help! female chin question

I just walked in my room a few min ago and noticed my female chin "cleaning herself" and noticed there were wet spots all around the cage. I watched her for a few min and noticed that every min or so she releases a small amount of fluid, that seems thicker than pee. She drinks it up right away but they both (male and female chin) seem very interested in the fluid. She seems to be preoccupied by it was well, always cleaning herself and running around the cage "cleaning up after herself".

any idea whats going on??

thanks!
nicole

I think a trip to the vet is in order. I have read about this on a different forum and she ended up losing her chinchilla. So, please, get her to the vet ASAP

Well i just got back from the vet and kassy is totally pissed, but she is now sleeping in her cage while marlo runs around the room eating hay

She did great, the vet did some tests and noted that she had high pH and blood in her urine.
She has a UTI, he gave her a shot (which she made the most horrible cry from!!) and gave me a oral medication (Baytil mix) to give her every 12 hours, .2cc for a week. I am supposed to cut back on feeding pellets and no treats and just give timothy hay until she is better.
shes pissed at me and wont let me come near her...
this week is going to suck haha. She is not a very well handled chin, so giving her this oral medication will not be easy!
anyways, at least its not as bad as it could be! thank god!
