Question I wanna know...

I have just recently recieved a year old chinchilla from a man who didn't want her anymore, and I have a question for you guys. My parents are recently divorced and I spend one week at mom's, one week at dads, etc. and my guinea pig comes with me. I would like to know if moving my chinchilla back and forth ( i am planning on getting 2 cages and just moving the animal back and forth. the cage won't fit in my mom's car!) but i want to know if that would stress her out, or if me getting her last friday then bringing her here on sunday was a bad idea she hasn't had the chance to bond with me yet or what??

some chins are ok with travel. You will have to see how stressed she may get and judge from that. My chin does fine going to my moms and back every month. So your new chin may do ok but watch her water and food in take and also watch for squish poos.

Depends on the chin. My Hailey loves to travel, she curls up in her hammock and passes out the whole ride and sometimes sit up in her cage by my shoulder and sort of watches forward sitting on her butt while I drive! It is priceless. Henry on the other hand gets really excited and runs around constantly, I had to get a small cat travel carrier to carry him to and from so he could not hurt himself getting so excited. If the travel is very long, like mine was 3 hours, I would be hesistant to keep moving them. Perhaps double up on large water bottles and food bowls so they are good for the week and have your mom or dad check up on them every now and then. Good luck!

It really depends on the chinchilla. I had a chinnie who LOVED to travel with me in the car. At times she would even bounce around in her cage when she heard the keys. My advice is: let her get used to you at one house in one cage in one environment before you start changing it each week. That way, you become her stable friend that she can trust during travel.
I'm sorry about the divorce, and I hope things work out with the chinnie!! Congrats on getting her.
