Keira Delivered!!!

Keira my homo eb girl (Ritterspach/EOTC Lines) and her mate Mesquite med/dark tan (Purple Sage Lines) gave birth to two beautiful bouncing baby boys. A Tan (should end up real dark cause he is darker already than most of the tans born here that ended up med/dark tan) and a hetero ebony. Both these boys will be for sale.

Your babies are cuties!!! Congrads!!!! That is a beautiful litter.

Your tan will start to lighten at 3 weeks but don't worry it will darken up really nice for you I'm sure. I love the light color around their eyes when they are little.

Oh. Mine usually lighten first especially if the under fur is light when they are born. They darken up really nicely in time. My chocolates lighten a bit too but not much. Maybe it has to do with the genetics of the parents and the number of generations that carry the color. What do you think?

Hrmm... maybe. I know that the further into the lines the more the dark tan goes toward the root.
I work with a lot of 3rd, 4th, and even have some 5th and 6th generation tans.
So far all of my tans have started off even lighter than a hetero beige... I mean LIGHT (homo beige light!) and still ended up med/dark tan... this one is the first one that even looked like a tan and not a homo beige at birth.

The genetics are funny. I have a white female her mom was a tov tan, dad was white. I bred her to a grey and she throws dark tans, who would guess? I just bred a mosaic and a med tan and they threw a chocolate. ???

Some of my babies when born are white to cream and by the time they reach 2yrs they are a nice dark tan but their undercoat is still light, You would never know it unless you blow into the fur. Some people classify these as pastel but they change into darker tan as adults, I've never seen a pastel adult.

Genetics make me dizzy :tongue2:

I totally agree and nothing shocks me anymore with genetics. Especially anything concerning the ebony gene! lol!
