My poor Creamsicle

I swear, I have the absolute worse luck when it comes to my chinchillas lately.

Today after a long day at work, I came home, changed and sat by my husband who was on the computer. I was saying my hellos to the three chins in the room, when I suddenly notice Creamsicle pawing at his mouth. I went over to investigate and saw this bubble of drool on his mouth. I flipped out! I went upstairs, asked my parents to please take him to the vet tomorrow (hubby and I both work), and then went downstairs. My parents when I was upstairs asked me if I contacted them yet. I said I just noticed this and I'd e-mail them. They wanted me to call them, and I said that I have to work and will have absolutely no time. We'll see about that though, I may just leave a message on their machine.

I came back down, and I saw a bubble again! Not as big this time. I am really freaking out now. I know he hasn't been eating as much hay, but he's eating some!

I am at a loss. I've had two chins with problems with teeth, and a third one will put me over the edge! I love them so much, and with losing Scooter and the tooth problems, I just hate seeing them go through this!!

Well, Creamsicle went to the vet yesterday.

They didn't find anything wrong with his teeth, which is a big relief. They did find his bottom molars were slightly pushing into his tongue, but he said it wasn't anything truly bad. They also said he had a little bit of fat, but was hydrated fine and was at a good weight!

That sounds promising. Is it the molars that caused the bubbling?

Owned by 26 chins, 7 cats, 2 dogs, and 7 aquariums

They really didn't say. I haven't seen him bubbling at the mouth since the first incident. So, that's a good sign.

Hopefully it won't happen again. It was scary enough the first time, and seeing it again would really freak me out.

Here's hoping Creamsicle has no more incidents in the future and stays healthy.

Dustie did the bubble thing one time. Turned out just to be a piece of hay stuck in the roof of her mouth. Big todo about nothing!
