I tend to look at my animals, and then a name just pops out.
Often their personality will help you on the way

I just got two girls and named them Isis and Eowyn. If you're going the Disney route, I would suggest maybe using some of these:
Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Nala, Jane, Dory, Eva, Stitch (the name of my cat, but then again we named her long before that movie came out, lol)

I agree that you should look at them and know. My approach was always having a list of names that I like then try them out for a few days. If it fits, it fits! If not, you will know in your gut that it seems off.

there are many websites devoted to names of chinchillas, you will be able to pick a name due to the nature of each, they are very different and will act such, it will come in due time

Bailey is a cute name i really like, as well as Midori or Kahlua for liquor based names. For disney names I like Flora and Fauna.

i like relatively unique names for my pets. im getting my black velvet and ebony in april. their names are gonna be abbey dawn (for the black velvet) and neytari (for the ebony) they just kinda popped in my head, so they stuck. i like flora and fauna though, those are cute.
