Smile Safe dyes for chin toys???

I just cut some blocks out of untreated pine to make some toys for my chin with. Now I want to add some color to them, but I have no idea what dyes are safe and how to go about dying the wood. Does regular food coloring work or what? If someone knows anything about this, let me know the type of dye, and how to dye the wood, thanks!

I believe that most people use unsweetened Kool Aid.

I did a seller check their item thing too and they seem to have some cool twigs, but on closer inspection the picture has a whole lotta dem twigs but in actuality they send you 20. I think I am going to start Willow tree farming if I can get 3 bucks for 20 twigs,,lol
