Unhappy Well, Chiquita finally had her baby - sad news

Chiquita had her baby this morning, a little standard male weighing only 28 grams. The poor baby only survived a few hours. Chiquita is heartbroken right now
The strange thing is, she was due on Sunday, and had gained 130 grams through her pregnancy

Oh no, I'm sorry.

No other babies in there?

I couldn't feel any, I thought I did, but then she felt soft. She is such a big girl anyways, so maybe she just packed the weight on this time. She lost her last baby due to the fact that she was further along than we thought, and she wasn't in a maternity cage, sooo, by the time we found the baby, he was too weak to survive. So this has to be really hard on her

Cool

I'm really sorry about that. Will chin's accept a "surrogate" baby for a while to help them recover? Just some kind of little lovey to help her for a while?

I don't have a surrogate baby right now . I just have Pandora's baby, and she just had the one, the other kits I have are 10 weeks old now and very independant, and then I have 12 week old males, but the one has already got one of my females pregnant, so I won't risk it (he is such a stud like his dad LOL). So, she has to be alone until she is out of heat again, then I will be able to put her back with her mate. She really misses him now

Cool

I am first to admit my ignorance concerning chin breeding (among other things!), but will they accept a stuffed animal as a baby?

I know dogs are very different from chins, but I remember my mom's dog (years ago) would have false pregnancies then would "adopt" one of her toys as her baby - and by golly, you had to be careful about touching that "baby" or you'd have a 5-pound poodle attached to you!

Just trying to help-even in my ignorance. I hate to think of her being so unhappy!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear the sad news I remember when Chiquita's little black velvet was discovered roaming around the house

I'm sure she'll get over it, although it may take a while... maybe you can give her some extra attention, and the stuffed animal is an idea - at least she'll have something to cuddle with

Thanks everyone. I have been holding her a lot, so she is happier about that. I will try the stuffed animal idea, i think that will cheer her up.
