Considering a new addition

My fiance and I are getting a new apartment in 2 weeks and we were thinking about getting a ferret. I've had ferrets before but that was when I was younger and my mom took care of them. I was just wondering what some pros and cons of ferrets might be, especially in a small one-room apartment? For example, in such a small place would their odor be too over whelming even if descented?

A common thing said about ferrets is that they stink ... if you the type of person that is fastidious about cage care then it shouldn't stink. Part of the battle is also getting it potty trained and how big the enclosure is that you can provide, etc. But be truly honest with yourself about how much time you are going to have to devote to cage cleaning before you make your decision.

I think ferrets are great and it could definitely work for you but you might want to consider holding off until you are completely settled in ... moving is soooo stressful and even when you think you are done something else pops up so it might be a good idea to hold off until you guys can totally enjoy a new edition. Good luck!

I've always loved ferrets. . .they're so sweet and so funny. . . well except when i was younger and my mom's used to crawl under my door and bite my feet while I was sleeping! Anyway, I can clean in once every other day or something. So it'll be cool.

Does anyone know some good breeders or anything in NC, perferably near new hanover co. ?
