Post My Ferreta

Sometimes at night I wake up and hear my ferret coughing (or what it sounds like her trying to breath for air). I get really scared because Im afraid she's having a hairball attack or is choking. If anybody knows anything about ferrets, PLEASE send me some advice
My screen name is DawnyLover2515
Thanks,
Jen

Jen...
it could be many things. does she do this during the day or only at night? Does she cough while awake? How is her activity? eating, drinking, playing? One suggestion I could make if you think it is possible a furball is to go to the petstore and buy "ferretlax" it is a tube of a brown gel like substance (similar to vaseline). It is used to lubricate the digestive track and free it of any foreign objects (furballs, rubber or any other substance she may have gotten ahold of). I usually give this to my 3 ferrets at least once a week as a precautionary measure. I believe a 1" strip is recommended for preventative care.
If you can't get ahold of some ferretlax I have been told that you can also use just regular vasoline?? Hope this helps.
Keep me updated on how shes doing!!
