I personally believe one of the BIGGEST reasons DEWS are not wanted is because the tend "sometimes" to be biters... the reason for this being they are prone to deafness, they cannot hear you coming towards them so they often get starteled (sp?) & nip or they just show affection differently than that of a non-deaf fert. IMO that is NO reason to give up an animal... they cannot help their situation, I'm sure they don't like it either. I have a panda that is deaf... I did not know this when I first got her, but as I learned about it I tried to change my routine with her & learned to have LOTS of patience! She has definately come a long way!!
Anyway... As for the teeth problem, if you are able to find a fet who specializes in ferrets I am pretty sure they can do something about the teeth. Infortunately they may have to use anesthesia and have to pull the one that is broken & cavitated... anesthesia on a small animal scares me, but I have heard of it successfully being done without complications. I would certainly call around & find the BEST knowledgable fert vet you can. With you being in Canada I am affraid I am not much help for ya there...
Keep us update though!! & let is know how "Dude" is adjusting!!
