Am I making oreo fat?

Oreo was born on sept,2 2004 so he's still growing, and finnishing up quilling. I leave fresh water, and food out for him all the time, I don't limit how much food He's getting, I just add more food to his bowl when I give him fresh water everyday. Since he's still growing, should I let him eat whatever he wants or should I feed him a certain ammt.? Also, he is growing, but not getting fat, or looking really pudgy. Thanx in advance, -amanda

Well, I free feed my hedgie but they are prone to obesity so you do need to be careful. Be sure he has a hedgie safe wheel so he can keep in shape. I would purchase a gram scale and weigh your hedgie weekly. Keep a journal of his weights so you can see how much he's gaining. It's normal for baby hedgie to gain weight. If you're concerned that he/she might be a little heavy, switch your cat food (IMO, should only be 1/3 of the diet anyway) to a "light" cat food. We switched Louie and it helped with his weight. Be sure not to feed a lot of fatty human foods.

Do you have a wheel for Oreo to run on?
