Here at the Flash and Thelma Memorial Hedgehog Rescue, we presently have 42 hedgehogs in permanent residence. They range in age from 2 and a half months to five years. Many are Central African or Algerian chocolates. Presently our rarest colors inlcude an Algerian brown white, an Algerian dark cinnacot, an Algerian dark gray, and a reverse pinto. Our Algerian black hedgehog died on July 31, 2009 from intestinal cancer. We receive hedgehogs from all over the continental USA, often from states where they are illegal. Located in Colorado, we presently have hedgehogs from as far away as Florida, Maryland, and California. Weights vary considerabnly, from the 220 gram dwarf hedgehog Sabinaya to the 1,000+ gram Queen Sable. For continuous and helpful hedgehog information, hedgehog caretakers may wish to join the 950+ member list-server at Yahoogroups called "hedgehog_help" and look into joining the International Hedgehog Association (IHA). Our Rescue also has a web site with hedgehog care information on the Little Flash page where our Rescue and the IHA web sites may be accessed via Google.
