Smile just wondering

Anyone know where to get a young hedgehog in either the Louisville area in KY or the St. Louis area in MO? Also curious about how much hedgies cost (excluding care, supplies....) at a breeder vs. pet shop.

well, i don't know any breeders around there, but try www.hedgehogvalley.com, you won't get a hedgie any cheaper than them. well it all depends on what you want to keep em in, you can connect different rubbermaids together, or get a cage. aquariums aren't the best, because they can get really hot, cold and not much circulation. you will need a food bowl, water bowl, or bottle, a wheel 12-15 inches in diameter, a cozy place to sleep, bedding and food. csfcls is supposed to be good, but i don't get it in canada. (chicken soup for the cat lover's soul). any more questions, just ask!

thanks

Thanks so much for your reply. I will definitely check out that website. I have a guinea pig (used to have a bunch) and I made them an enormous cage, very cozy, from the cubes and choroplasts design I found on www.cavycages.com. I think this would be a great design for a hedgie as well. I want to get my brother a baby hedgie as a gift but want to research and check different places out before actually buying one. Thanks again for your info. More later if I think of it!
