A little confused
I adopted a female prairie dog abotu "6" months old from a guy who treated her like his daughter. She was always running loose, slept in his bed and was super sweet. Well after a few days of her being sweet at my house. She has done a complete 180. She runs around everywhere (which is natural) but NEVER wants to be picked up. When I put my hand around her, she flips over and fights my hand. She nibbles on my fingers whenever she can. Not hard enough to draw blood but hard enough to hurt. And its not a one time thing. If she laying on her back against me and I pet her she goes nuts and literally starts muching on my finger likes its food. Not like she's attacking, but trying to eat. Yet she always has food available to her. What is causing this sudden strange behavior.
While holding her today I noticed what looked like a flea on her, can they get prairie dogs get fleas? If so how do you treat them? Could this be irritating her enough to cause her to act funny? Im really scared of her having fleas because I have 3 dogs and loads of carpet -.-
