Unhappy My PD is always chewing on her cage!!😞😞

Hi everyone, Im new to this forum and also a new PD momma! I hope someone that have experienced this can help me out. I have 2 PD's, they are both girls, one (Abigail) is super sweet, loves to cuddle with us and super behaved, the other one is Nina, TOTTALY the opposite, she is much more reserved and very skidish. Nina is always chewing on the bars of her cage and climbing everywhere to the point of creating sores on her nose and face, first I tought it could be the cage so I went and got a critter nation double unit (which I'm thinking on turning it into a quad) because it has 1/2" spacing, the older cage have wider spacing in between bars, so I was hoping that she would stop but she is still doing it!!!. It has only being 2 days since I moved them into the new cage, I have had the PD's for about a month now, I never raised them before so someone please tell me WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

Congrats on the PDs!

It sounds like Nina is having anxiety. How much exercise are they getting? Prairie dogs like a lot of space. I don't currently own any prairie dogs, but I have done a lot of research. Maybe she needs more places to hide or more time outside of the cage. She should settle-in, but to make it easier on her you can try covering half of the cage so she feels like she is in a burrow.

I hope this helps. Best of luck!
