Prairie dog Behavior Question

I just got a 2 year old prairie dog that needed a new home. She is doing well and eating and active. I have noticed that when she first comes out of her cage and is really wanting to be cuddled and petted, she does this thing that feels almost like she is shivering. My little girl asked if she was purring. Has anyone experienced this or should I be concerned? We have had her a little over a week and she seems to be doing great otherwise.

Thanks in advance!!

Contact Gena or get to a vet

She may be cold. They need a temp of 70*F. If not they can go into tropor - kind of like hibernation. If you are on Facebook, join this group, search for Black tailed prairie dogs

Once you join, speak with Gena. She is an expert with a PhD in prairie dogs (literally!)

If you don't have a facebook, I can give you her email and phone number.

As said here, make sure she is not too cold just to be safe.
