On Agouti Duty

This is Lucy, the red (or orange) rumped agouti. I recently got her from a local pet store, where she was brought in by a customer, nearly starved half to death. They started nursing her back to health and then I got her about a week later. She's still kind of thin, they're supposed to be somewhat plump, like a long-legged guinea pig. They behave much the same way, with the skittish personality. I haven't seen anyone else who keeps them, so I figured I'd post and ask. Maybe someone else has some additional dietary advice that I haven't found on Google already.

She sits in her corner, singing herself to sleep.
Wrapped in all of the promises, that no one seems to keep.

She's looking a little better, not quite so scruffy and sad looking, and has put on some weight. She's never really come around to being friendly though, still prefers to not be held - but she sure enjoys ripping apart nuts. I give her fully shelled Brazil nuts, and she has no problems at all cracking them open. I can imagine what kind of damage a bite could do.

We named her Lucy... because she's a red-rumped agouti... get it?
