Question degu group

I got one degu from a local pet store cause he was alone and the lady hated him cause he bit her so they gave her away for free. But i know they are social animals and am building a big cage and plan on getting a friend or two. I thought about breeding them because they are not found often in my area and I know people that like em. My question is do you have to keep male female seperate at times other than breeding or can they live together? I am researching now because I want to get a friend soon he has to be lonely. Any opinions helpful...

They can be together and should be left together. They do just fine.
