Aww . Where do you live that you can keep a wild squirrel? Did you need a permit?

Just curious!

Max is an absolute little doll. Thanks for sharing pictures of him. We had a little squirrel that we raised when I was young too. It and his sister fell from a tree that we had to cut down. Poor little things fell from their nest when the tree went down, mommy no where in sight. Same as Max's situation, his little sister did not make it. It's funny, we never worried about a permit or releasing him into the wild, because where we lived, we just knew that he was too tame to make it on his own for long. And as for a permit, we just never thought of it. We just thought we were doing the best thing for him. Maybe I am aging myself here, we didn't know about permits back then. And, I'm really not that old, (before you start teasing me! hee hee)

Florida is a Squirrel Friendly State.....
other States are NOT.

No Permit is needed...... either your state is Squirrel Friendly (meaning you can keep a squirrel as a pet) or it is NOT (meaning you can be fined for keeping squirrel as a pet).

I am just grateful that Florida is Squirrel Friendly.... and we would have released Max back into the Wild when he turned 4 months old if he had not hurt his paw and lost his nails on that foot.

This time around Max found ME - I did not find him.......

Red face

Max turned 10 weeks old today....... two more weeks and he will offically be an Adult Squirrel.

The last PIC is of Max sitting / sleeping in his favorite spot - on the computer chair....

and do not worry I am not wearing the glove because Max is to hard to handle or mean - rather I am wearing the glove on my left hand to give it time to heal from the past few weeks of playing with Max -

Yes, we have filed them down some this past week - and we might clip them soon since he is not being released.... but you NEVER clip the nails of a squirrel that is going to be released, for they need their razor sharp tips for climbing and defending themselves.

One cannot love and cuddle with a squirrel with out a few minor scratches.....
