Max use to poop around the house and would pee on us as to leave his scent marking - but since he has grown up some he has chosen a certain corner in the cage that he uses 99% of the time.... my home is now squirrel waste free.

Arrow

We do not take him outside right now for he still to young to survive on his own and the slightest strange noise might frighten him enough to cause him to run before he realizes how far away he has gotten off to...... then it would be to late.

Max has how ever been out side one time with his sister Mia (R.I.P.) back when they were six weeks old - I think I posted some PICS of the event a few pages back.

After Winter time is well over we are to be building a large out door enclosure for Max so he may spend some time out in nature with the wind and sun on his face and felt against his fur. Plus - I do have a small ferret's leash and body collar that I am trying to get Max used to wearing, so that he can enjoy the sunrise with me as I drink my hot tea out side in the morning.

Wow, I've always thought it'd be cool to have a squirrel, they are so adorable. Does he nip or bite ever? He looks like a sweetheart.

Yes, Max is a Sweeeeeetheart, but then again he is was a squirrel first - so of course he does nip and bite at times...... we tell him NO in a very firm vice (like one would do with a dog) and he seems to listen fairly well - he will stop when told NO.... but turn your back on him and he will start up again -

I will take my nips bites and scratches any day - for I would NOT trade this experience for the world.

I must not tell a lie........ that was me and the bottle opener trying to entice Max to bite the pumpkin - but he would not take the bait - the closest Max ever got to it was biting the stem as shown above... then he raised his nose to the pumpkin.

Eeeek! - it happened......

Max was being a Squirrel instead of a loving Family Pet when he jumped on my son (for no known reason to us) and placed a few hard bites on my son's hand that drew blood in four different places.

Max was reprimanded and grounded......... he was sent to his room for the night. (see PIC below).

Mom - when can I come out?
