We have some new friends!!!!

We wanted to share wonderful news that has been such a long time coming for us. We have been searching for Duprasi (fat-tailed) gerbils for more than 5 years now and finally this past weekend our wish came true. What wonderful and unusual animals they are. They are a bit larger than we expected and are going to need a couple of weeks to settle in with their new people, but we are ecstatic to have them here with us. We have a breeding pair – separated until they pass quarantine, and two juvenile males. We are so happy and will post pics of them as soon as we get 5 minutes to get a few. If anyone else here has Duprasi we'd love to hear from you and what your experience has been.

Smile Ok, ok, we got a few pics.....

We stayed up way past our bed time last night and got a few pics. They all desprately needed a sand bath so we used that opportunity to get a few photos.

You can see in one photo below the charateristic that makes these guys appearance so neat - the 1 1/2 inch club like tail that has earned them the nick name of Fat Tailed Gerbil.

Enjoy!
