Baby Bunnies

Well, my dad found a wild baby bunny nest in our backyard today.

Unfortunately we are having a rather large outside gathering tomorrow, and there will be children. I'm afraid that the bunnies will get trampled on!

I want to move the nest but, I know that it's a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE idea. I just don't want them to die.

Any ideas? And I might get pictures later. I have to wait for the sun to come out so I don't use the flash. They are some-what out in the open so I won't have to move anything either.

If the nest has been disturbed, You may get lucky and the mother might move them tonight.

Last 4th of July my grandparent found out there was a bunny nest in there outdoor dog kennel, luckily they only use it when they have company. But everyone went over to look at it, and we tried to keep the kids away from it as much as possible, Grandma said she think she might have seen the momma rabbit when she went out to smoke late that night, and by morning all the babies were gone.

Is there a way you could block off the area tomorrow? maybe with one of those puppy play yards or even with some chicken wire or something, momma only needs to get to them once a day, so if you block it off during the day when everyone is around, and uncover it at night, i would think they should be fine.

I wish I had seen this - in case this ever happens again you could use a box with an opening cut in it for momma or what I think is a better idea - a table. My mother in law has a rabbit that insists on having babies in her yard every year. She used a table once to make sure that no one stepped on them - and it also kept the rain off of them.

Bean - kitty
