benji has been panting

It is getting warmer here, but she is a house rabbit, and we have AC (that is used when needed) But lately after she has a big run of the house or is out for a while I will put her back in her play pen and she eats, drinks etc.. then lays down and i can tell she is panting or breathing harder than normal. And it's just been the last couple days she has been panting, i put a frozen bottle in the cage that she laid near for a bit (but it's really not even that hot yet)

She is going to bunny summer camp in december while i am home (a qualified vet who boards and rescues rabbits) And they have heated / AC unit, but also get "garden playtime" And I am super worried now because that month will be extremely hot, and benji goes outside but not a lot especially when it's hot. *nervous mom*

on a different note for the last month or so benji has been giving kisses like crazy! I put my finger in front of her and she licks away. and she will also come up and start kissing, and lay down beside me and lick my leg. I love it because she wont kiss anybody else :p But is it like other animals and a sign of dominance?

Hope everyones buns are well!

She's probably licking you bc she recognizes your voice and scent as the one who brings food! ^.^ Acacia sometimes licks me but she won't lick Matt. She only chins him, it's a good thing for Benji to be so comfortable with you

What do you have lining her cage? If you can get them, grab some linoleum tiles or a large chinchilla porcelain resting plate. Those will keep bunny cool. Their ears help them cool off in the heat so for lops it is a little more challenging to tunnel the wind the right way. So she's probably panting to rid the excess heat. Possibly A/C would help and the frozen water bottle should at least be wrapped in a towel so it's not too wet. That way if she wants she can rest against it.

Smudge licks me whenever I pet him in his favorite spots. With bunnies, returning grooming is a sign of affection... The "dominant" bunnies basically demand that the "submissive" ones groom them, so if Benji is willing to groom you, you are very loved LOL. Read the "Prove that you love me" link on this site: http://language.rabbitspeak.com/

"For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethen, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth."
