Clicker training Shadow

Just wanted to let you guys know that I'm going to try and clicker train Shadow. I was speaking to the woman who ran the puppy class seminar I did this weekend and she said it is very successful. She said to deprive her of the food that I'm going to use when training (I've decided on Brocolli) and use the exact same steps as what I would for Biscuit.
The reason why I want to do it is because Shadow will jump back into her cage herself (her cage is on a stand and not low to the ground but when she's had enough play time she jumps straight back in so all I have to do is close the door) and I want her to do it on command. I will obviously have to build up to that and because of her cage situation I'll be getting her to come out of her cage on cue and then reverse the trick....it should be easier!!
I'll let you know how I go with it and if any of you guys want me to post my updates every week I'm more than happy to!!!
And if any of you have done it and want to give me tips I'm more than happy to hear them!!!

That sounds great Carmen! I can't wait to hear how it's going. Good luck! (Although I don't think you need it.)

Thanks Roz!! I hope I don't!! If Shadow is successful I will train Molly too but Shadow seems to be the more intelligent one so I thought I'd give myself a break and train the one easier to train first!!!

Mandie ok I'll start a new thread at he end of my first week and update at the end of every week!!! I have heard before that rabbits can be clicker trained and got curious about it and then this trainer was saying how she has her cat and chickens trained and so I asked her about rabbits at lunch and she said her rabbit (who died three months ago) picked it up really easily so it has given me the motivation!!!

Awsome!! I want to clicker train Dutchie and Lucky...maybe teach them to do the freestyle dance? Could you imagine doing those dances with rabbits? (I just gave you another idea didn't I? )

I definitely want to hear of the progress! I know some people have used clickers to train their rabbits for jumping (like an agility course for rabbits), but have not personally met anyone who clicker trained a rabbit.

Awesome Carmen. I can't wait to hear how it goes! Both of my bunnies are very intelligent so I might give it a try too (if it works for you).

Mine are intelligent too. The problem is they are intelligent to know how to get away with things. LOL.
