Dutchie was neutered today!

Finally!! I was able to get Dutchie neutered today...wasn't sure if it was going to happen actually! Dr. Lehr had his own doctor's appointment late this morning and had requested "light" on the surgeries for today...no big deal, Dutchie's neuter was the only surgery scheduled and we had only 3 appointments this morning...however, we had 5 walk-ins!! By the time everyone was seen, it was time for Dr. Lehr to go to his appointment, so Dutchie was put on hold (actually, Dutchie GOT held almost all day! Everyone was carrying him around and playing with him Yup, he likes being carried)
So anyway, when I went back after lunch, Dr. Lehr found time to actually do Dutchie's neuter! (I expected it to have to wait till tomorrow) But when I came in, he was being sedated and shaved up. Unfortunetly, I couldn't observe the surgery since I had dogs to walk. All went REALLY smooth though! Dr. Lehr said it was one of the easiest rabbit neuters he's done! Said he didn't have to "dig around" or anything He also got his nails trimmed and teeth checked. I wanted his teeth checked because he's not a big chewer and just wanted to be sure they weren't getting too long. All was good in the toofers department. Apparently they are the perfect length and NICE and Straight! So even though the neuter didn't take place till this afternoon, Dr. discharged him home to me (normally they won't discharge them until they are eating and drinking) But since no one is there overnight to watch him, it was better I take him home He's doing good now...little bit of pouting still...won't come to the cage door when I open it, but he's eating and drinking and letting me rub his ears (he likes that)
So anyhoo...that's my tale for today...Dutchie lost his jewels

Still doing well..he's forgiven me (probably because I had NOTHING to do with getting him actually ready for surgery...I was the one petting him and trying to keep him from crashing into things as he woke up) Dr. Lehr asked about him this morning too...he's still amazed it went so smooth and the whole procedure didn't take any longer than a cat neuter does!
Of course while in surgery for a dog neuter today, we all started joking around about what it would be like if dogs had testicles that were the same size ratio as rabbit testicles...We figured the lab he was neutering would have 8 inch long "jewels"
