i have had my rabbit for three weeks. at first there was a night poo
every morning that was unaten. it was just squished the bottom of the
cage. this went on for about 4 days. now when i got home from town today there are two night poos that are unaten! is this a problems? isnt it diet related? i have no idea what i am doing wrong.

Just because a rabbit poops at night, doesn't mean it produces cecotropes everytime it has to go. Your rabbit probably produces too many or doesn't eat them all yet. She's still young and has time to learn. I wouldn't worry about it too much at this stage.
Just make sure your rabbit isn't above metal grate when she poos because then the droppings would fall to the bottom of the cage where your bunny couldn't get to them.

That's what I was thinking. That's kinda weird. I mean, my dog eats the cat poop if he can get to it, but still Ewwwwwwww

rabbits have a certin poo that they eat. most people will never see these poos (from what i read) and yes they are cecotropes. they dont fall through the floor or anything, she has a solid bottom in her cage. and also i have read that "most" rabbits eat it straight from their bum.

The droppings that the rabbit eat at night, generally, are called cecotropes. They consime these because they didn't get all the nutrients by digesting the food only once. The nutrients are in the cecotropes, so rabbits consume them for health reasons. It is completely normal.

Do you watch her all through the night? Just because there are some left doesn't mean she didn't eat any.

Rabbits can also eat them during the day... i know my rabbit Sniffles usually eats hers around 7 to 8 in the morning. so your rabbit might be eating them during the day too... just a thought.
