free hay.... good?

i got some FREE hay today.
the person says he sells it for horses. says its grass hay that has timothy orchrad and other grasses.
should i be worried about any plants in there that is harmful.
he acted like he didnt even know what the "other" grasses were....

I'd be people who don't know what they are talking about arn't worth listening too. stick to what you know and trust.

Personally, It's not something I would worry about. That's how I used to buy hay all the time. ...by the bale.

At the zoo, and on various farms I've worked at, that was how we buy/bought our hay. I don't recall ever hearing of anything poisonous ocurring.

But then again, they are your animals. If you don't feel comfortable buying hay that way, ...don't do it.

well, i have been using it for litter in her litter box. i looked really good and i see orhard grass and timothy in. it looks like there are alot of "weeds" that you see growing outside. i have her regular hay availible to her. she seems to really like this horse hay! it is actually some good hay. not dusty, pretty green, smells great and soft.
i am thinking its good hay for her. of course i am monitoring her closely and its been three days. thanks for the advice guys.

only think that did consern me is wondering if there is poisnios plants in there. i know some weeds are deadly to rabbits.
