got another Angora! (pee soaked mats)

my new Angora is an english! she is a Siamese point with red eyes. She is pretty cute, but I dont do red eyes. LOL She doesnt have a name yet.
The lady that I got her from was moving and couldnt bring the rabbit.

Well the poor bun is very very matted and the mats are stinky and yellow. I cut out many of the mats, I worked on her for an hour today, and I will probably have at least another hour of just trimming mats. even without the mats her back end and back hocks are yellowish orange and smell horrible. Can I give her a bath? I know that rabbits should not have baths, but I think in this case it would be fine. If I bath her back end shouldn't I blow dry it to keep it from staying wet and chilling her?

thanks for any help! I feel like some sort of Angora rescuer since this is my second matted stinky angora in a month! no more bunnies for me, thats for sure.

I think it would be fine to give her a little bath with some good-smelling small animal shampoo! Just do an inch or 2 of warm water in a tub. If you want to get the rest of her wet, use a washcloth. Make sure that she can see out of the tub- For some reason, it really freaks them out if they cant!
I would just turn her into a secure bunny burrito untill she is dry. She will be pretty stressed out, and I dont think that a hair drier would help much. When gave Smudge a bath, he just wanted to groom himself afterwards, so she might want to do that too.
Good luck! Its great that you rescued a bun in need!

Oh sorry to hear about your cam, silly lil things always tryt o convince you they can swim eh?
Also, congrats on your newbie!! She sounds adorable. Warm water, hibitane soap or betadine or small animal soap though plain water should be fine- and burrito her up like Jess said. Ive been giving Akina baths more frequently because of her lack of hygeine since her cheek makes her a lazy-bum. Just last night I put my portable heater on in my room on full heat while I was in washing her ( I keep her on my lap and just pour warm water over her bottom) and then dried it with the towel and watched her in my warm room. They can lose body heat really quickly if theres drafts for instance -which my rooms have-
This should clear up soon, and keep us posted!! I cant wait to see her!

I'm glad she's doing better! You couldn't have given her a bath, anyways, unless she was shaved down first. Angoras mat REALLY badly when they get wet. I don't even bring mine outside if the grass is wet .
