if i got another rabbit

would it have to be a nueterd male to get along with my spayed female? or will another spayed female be fine? petstores never garentee the sex of the rabbit!! just wondering how bad it would be if a grabbed up a female

A spayed female would be fine .

If you went to a shelter, though, they'd be able to guarantee the gender.

yup, but theres no shelters around here that have rabbits. i found a couple of breeders but none of them really had what i was looking for. and frankly one of those two breeders sounded like a bit of a nut case!
yes i read myself that two spayed females work out. i just have to hope for the best i guess. as soon as i can get the other spayed/nutered i will, and then hopefully by then Ryo and her/him will get along well enough to house together.
im sure its okay to let them play together, etc as long as i keep a close watch. i am planning on letting them play in the bathroom (nuetral territory ya know) for perhaps a month or more before even trying in Ryo's territory. i am just going to expect the worse that way it can only be better than i imagined

hmmm... not so sure about that... Maybe in the US they are better at it, but when I got Thumper at the shelter close to my place, they told me it was a neutered male, so my bun got named Thumper and we thought she was a "he" until I asked the vet, a long time later, to check that Thumper had in fact been neutered and the vet told me that she was actually a female, most probably unspayed!

if not- i'd highly warn against another female since you've had Ryo for so long now... i say this only because i had this same situation- and my older female refuses to accept my youngest- and they are both spayed... i mean- you may have absolutely no problems- i just thought i could offer an honest story about two spayed females hating eachother for life... because it sounds as if you are very attatched to Ryo just as i was to my older female Thimble before i got my younger one. it was only a 4 month difference and still, the bond i formed with Thimble basically got in the way of her ever allowing a new bunny into the mix.

but good luck with whatever you decide!
